CEO – TEENS+ & Sleep Scotland
I started working at TEENS+ in 2012 after gaining a degree in health psychology. I went from working as a sessional worker to transition coordinator and I am now one of 2 team leaders at the Ravenscroft Centre.
Through my CPD in TEENS+ I have gained a vast interest in education: not only with or students but for our staff too. Through this I have been trained as a Talking Mats trainer and a Food safety trainer.
Talking Mats is used to support communication and works very well for the majority of our students. Over this year, Julia Pollock and I are running The Keeping Safe Talking Mats course for Edinburgh Local Authority and TEENS+.
After gaining my qualification in food safety I registered Ravenscroft as a training centre for REHIS. This allows me to train up to Elementary Food Hygiene level. I am looking to develop this safety course for our students. This year I have signed up to study PH nutrition. This means I will be able to train both staff and students on food health.
I have just secured a REHIS joint award so our Students can achieve a recognised qualification in food safety and health.
